applist - provides a list of possible applications for a file/file extension (provided by Starbuntu)

applist <file path> | <*.File extension>

The Starbuntu program applist, which works with the Starbuntu program open-with, provides a graphical list of possible applications for a file or a file extension (e.g. *.pdf) and, after selecting an application, outputs the name of its desktop configuration file.

/usr/local/bin/applist

Example 1:
  applist $HOME/Documents/Calendar/Annual Calendar.pdf

Example 2:
  applist *.pdf
